Mission Statement

The Institute for Worship Studies forms servant leaders
in Christian worship renewal and education
through graduate academic praxis,
grounded in biblical, historical, theological,
cultural and missiological reflection in community.

Statement of Faith

The Institute for Worship Studies, its administration and its faculty confess the historic Christian faith.  We affirm the centrality of Jesus Christ and the authority of Scripture in all matters of faith and practice.  Thus, we confess with the whole church the summary of faith handed down throughout history and affirmed by all Christians every where:

Celtic CrossApostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.

He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit,

born of the virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and buried.

He descended into hell.

On the third day, he rose again from the dead.

He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right

hand of the Father.

He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting.

Amen.

The Institute for Worship Studies is evangelical in nature and ecumenical in outlook,
embracing and serving the whole church in its many expression and variations.
